SCRiPTS Research Group

Sol-gel Centre for Research on Inorganic Powders and Thin films Synthesis (Department of Chemistry – Faculty of Sciences – Ghent University).

Advanced Inorganic Powders and Thin Films Synthesis

The key objectives of the SCRiPTS group can be described by 'controlled synthesis and surface chemistry of metal oxide nanoparticles' and 'chemical-solution-based coating strategies' (Prof. I Van Driessche - Prof. K De Buysser).

Research Themes

  • Controlled synthesis and characterization of metal oxide nanocrystals
  • Filling the gap between nanocrystals synthesis and their application by studying and designing its surface chemistry
  • Chemical solution deposition of functional coatings

Head of the SCRiPTS Group: Prof. dr. Klaartje De Buysser

Prof. dr. Klaartje De Buysser is the head of the SCRiPTS research group (Sol-gel Centre for Research on Inorganic Powders and Thin films Synthesis) at Ghent University. Her research group is internationally recognised for pioneering work in controlled wet-chemical synthesis, surface functionalization, and solution-based deposition of inorganic nanocrystals and thin film materials. Her scientific mission bridges molecular-scale precursor chemistry with functional material devices—driving innovations in integrated photonics, ferroelectric materials, contrast enhancing materials and bonding on demand by including magnetic nanoflowers.
